Amy joined UChicago in July 2011 and has focused her career on student and community development through educational organizations in Washington DC, Boston, San Francisco, and Chicago.  Prior to her current work at UChicago, she served as the Director of Youth Programs at the Coro Center for Civic Leadership in San Francisco, a national nonprofit founded in 1942 that provides intensive leadership training for students and professionals interested in public affairs.  She created partnerships with more than 200 community organizations to offer project-based internships for Coro participants.  Under her leadership, Coro Youth Programs received the 2010 Organization Award from the San Francisco Human Rights Commission. 

Prior to Coro, Amy served as the Senior Campus Director at the Boston headquarters of Citizen Schools, a national nonprofit that since 1995 has partnered with 31 middle schools to expand the learning day for over 5,000 children in low-income communities.  She recruited more than 350 volunteers from various professions to teach apprenticeships to students.  She led the Citizen Schools expansion efforts in California.  In Washington DC, Amy directed a literacy program at a targeted-assistance elementary school as an AmeriCorps VISTA. 

Amy received her Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota and her Master’s in Education from Harvard University.  She is a native of Chicago.
