Assistant Director for Multi-Sector Engagement

Chris returned to the University of Chicago in January 2018, after previously working at UCSC and the Institute of Politics (IOP) and attending graduate school at the School of Social Service Administration (AM'14). In the new role of UCSC Assistant Director for Multi-Sector Engagement, he is tasked with building upon UCSC’s relationships with nonprofits, businesses, and government agencies to inform its programming portfolio. He oversees the Chicago Bound pre-orientation program and Summer Links social justice internship program for undergraduates. He will also launch additional social justice and neighborhood-based initiatives for both undergraduate and graduate students.

Chris most recently worked at the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice, where he managed the Youth Advisory Board and the first-ever Youth Fellowship Program in partnership with the nonprofit Vera Institute of Justice. Prior to this, Chris was the IOP Student Civic Engagement Coordinator and helped advise students on the development and implementation of civic engagement projects.  Chris has also worked as a community organizer with Nextdoor, a private social networking service for neighborhoods, where he supported efforts to strengthen relationships between community residents on Chicago’s South Side. A native Chicagoan, Chris received his bachelor’s in political communication and economic development from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Ga.
