UCSC Community Impact Awards: Nominate now through 4/26

engage chicago 2022

Each year, UCSC recognizes the extraordinary commitment of students, staff, faculty,  and community partners in supporting the community engagement of UChicago students. UCSC will honor all recipients of the aforementioned awards, as well as the Perry Herst Prize and President's Volunteer Service Awards, at a reception on Wednesday, May 8.  We encourage you to nominate those who are deserving of this recognition. This opportunity is open to all members of the University of Chicago community, though we particularly encourage students to submit nominations.

Nominations are open for three awards:

Outstanding Community Mentor Award
This award recognizes the extraordinary commitment of a community organization staff member who engages students in their mission and educates them about the social justice issues to which they respond. Previous award winners have mentored students as volunteers, hosted interns, and partnered with RSOs and other student-led organizations to create and co-sponsor social change initiatives throughout Chicago.

Staff Community Impact Award
This award recognizes the extraordinary commitment of a professional staff member in either direct service or in the support of students engaged in community service and civic engagement. Previous awardees have been recognized for their establishment or support of programs that engage students in various forms of service or social justice promotion, for their sponsorship of RSOs or other campus-community partnerships, or for their contributions to building a culture of service within their units or the University as a whole.

Please Note:  Because UCSC professional staff are administering the UCSC awards process, they are not eligible to receive nominations. Office of Civic Engagement staff are ineligible as well because UCSC is a part of OCE.

Faculty Community Impact Award
This award recognizes the extraordinary commitment of a faculty member in either direct service or in the support of students engaged in community service and civic engagement. Previous award winners have been recognized for their integration of community service and social justice-related activities into their teaching, for engaging or supporting students in community-based research, and for their sponsorship of RSOs and other campus-community partnerships.

Nomination Submission Deadline: Friday, April 26, 11:59pm.
