UCSC's 20th Anniversary

  • May: Immigration & Racial Justice

How have racial and immigration policies (locally, regionally, nationally, and globally) shaped Chicago?

Founded in 1996 by Michelle Obama, the University Community Service Center (UCSC) is celebrating its 20th Anniversary Year this 2016-2017 school year. We have an exciting series of programming to mark this milestone. UCSC invites students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community partners to pledge time, effort, and financial resources to celebrate UCSC’s 20th anniversary and further the culture of civic engagement at UChicago and beyond.

Framed around a "20 for 20" Community Engagement Challenge, UCSC is commemorating its anniversary with a series of special programming, including monthly social justice issue spotlights, First Friday education and networking sessions, Second Saturday opportunities for service and community-building, career-building Civic Engagement Coffee Chats, civic reflection sessions, skill-building workshops, job shadows in social change fields, and more!
