Want to be a Volunteer?
The UCSC's Volunteer Referral staff connects students, staff, faculty, and others associated with the University to the city of Chicago through volunteer experiences. During one-on-one conversations, we learn more about each potential volunteer's interests and then identify organizations that can benefit from their unique talents and skills. We hope that people will leave their conversation not only with a list of exciting opportunities, but also a better sense of how they can contribute to this dynamic, challenging, and wonderful city.
- What do I want to do? Volunteers can devote their time to a specific issue or to serving a specific group of people. We can point you toward opportunities in direct service, administrative work, research, or advocacy.
- What do I want to gain from volunteering? Volunteer work can be the perfect way to learn more about Chicago, build new relationships, develop a new skill set, and deepen your interests.
- When am I available to volunteer? We'll help identify opportunities on weekdays, weekends and evenings.
- Where do I want to work? There are organizations across the city that are interested in having UofC volunteers. You can stay in Hyde Park, travel to a nearby neighborhood, or go further from campus if you have time and interest.
Our volunteer referral staff will talk with you about these questions and more, provide contacts, and guide you through the process of exploring different volunteer organizations.
