Community Service Leadership Training Corps (CSLTC)
The Community Service Leadership Training Corps (CSLTC) is a two-year intensive service and leadership training program run by the University Community Service Center. Annually, twenty first year undergraduate students are selected to become part of CSLTC.
The Program
First-year Corps members participate in weekly meetings centered on the development of leadership skills, familiarity with Chicago neighborhoods, and an understanding of different areas of service. First-years actualize these trainings through bi-weekly service projects in Chicago, exposing CSLTCers to different communities and different types of community service.During their second year, Corps members gain valuable real-world experience through a year-long unpaid internship at a non-profit organization of their choice. Second-year CSLTCers also participate in hour-long weekly meetings complementing their internship experiences with reflections about work in the non-profit sector, presentations on social service issues, and sessions on careers in social service. Graduates of CSLTC possess the skills and knowledge to become community service leaders on campus and throughout their lives.
