Dr. King in Chicago (Afternoon Tea with UCSC)
Join the UCSC and the Office of Multi-Cultural Student Affairs (OMSA) for a special session of Afternoon Tea.
We will engage in a discussion about Dr. King's visits to Chicago, and how his work here has influenced how many of us carry out his legacy in the city of Chicago and across the South Side.
We are looking forward to a riveting, respectful discussion as we dig into how we square Dr. King’s icon status with his radical ideas, how our neighbors have carried his legacy forward, and how we can make space for different kinds of civic action in our thinking and our lives. Open to students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community members.
And, of course, tea and cookies will be served!
About Afternoon Tea with UCSC:
Join us for weekly conversations about Chicago, civic engagement, and social change. These lightly-facilitated roundtables happen weekly and feature guest speakers, learning and reflection space, and social networking conversation over tea and other hot beverages, cookies, and snacks. Open to all students.
