Community Connections: Hyde Park Kenwood Interfaith Food Pantry
Join the UCSC on Saturday, October 19 as we partner with the Hyde Park Kenwood Interfaith Food Pantry to support their weekly hunger relief efforts. Volunteers will help to greet clients, carry bags as they make selections at the pantry, and manage food distribution and set-up, and will have the opportunity to connect with neighbors of all backgrounds. This opportunity is aimed at students, but is open to all members of the university community.

About the Hyde Park Kenwood Interfaith Food Pantry: The food pantry serves about 90 households per week. They are committed to a "client choice" model, such that each guest goes through their "grocery store" with an "ambassador" who makes sure their order is kept together as each client chooses from a weekly menu of fresh fruit and vegetables, frozen meats/fish, dry goods and canned fruits, vegetables and beans, and other miscellaneous items. It is a priority for them that each guest who comes is treated graciously by name, feels respected, and that they do all they can to get them the food they most want and need for their families.
